Machion Jackson
Machion L. Jackson is a current Broad – Yale School of Management Fellow and the Deputy Superintendent – Operations for Detroit Public Schools Community District, overseeing technology, facilities, nutrition, transportation, real estate, and capital improvements. With over 20 years in education as a teacher, principal, and now in her current role, she has led major district-wide initiatives—completing over 300 capital projects, solving the district’s water crisis, reactivating schools, and guiding a $700M Facilities Master Plan that includes building new schools without additional taxpayer cost. Machion has also supported innovative transportation strategies such as small vehicle expansion to prevent cancellation of routes, increased menu offerings to increase the numbers of students eating free school meals, and the ERP upgrades to improve finance and HR services at the district. Previously, she led and replicated a high-performing charter school, both of which boasted test scores above the state average. A proud native Detroiter and committed equity advocate, she serves on the Michigan Science Center as well as other local and national boards focused on student success and community development.
