Spectrum News NY: ‘Bottom Line’ helps students get into college, land a job

Bottom Line, an educational nonprofit, helps 400 city students get into college, and launch their careers after graduating.

Nakia Alston, managing director of development for Bottom Line NY, joined “News All Day” to talk about how they support students from under-resourced communities and encourage others to get involved.

Alston says the organization believes in the “transformative power of obtaining a degree.”

The nonprofit has two core programs: access and success. The access program helps rising high school seniors navigate the college application process. The success program supports rising matriculating college freshman for their time in college.

They use a DEAL model to support students: degree, employability, affordability and life.
