Jeanette Sanchez

English High School
Emerson College

Jeanette is originally from Puerto Rico and grew up in Jamaica Plain. She was one of the top 5 students in the class of 2007 at English High School. She earned a 4.5 GPA, taking mostly honors and AP courses. She was also very active in the English High theatre program. She acted and even wrote and directed a modern version of the play Lysistrata.

When Jeanette first came to Bottom Line, she was interested in studying writing during college. Jeanette fell in love with Emerson College from the first time she visited during her senior year of high school. She was accepted to Emerson College, but needed to come up with $12,000 to pay for school. She knew her mother couldn't afford to help her, and she had the option of attending another school that had given her more financial aid. However, Jeanette she was determined to go to Emerson, her dream school.

After being directed to scholarships offered by the Charles Hayden Foundation and the Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship, Jeanette was able make this dream a reality. She has excelled at Emerson and will graduate in Spring 2011 with a degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing. Jeanette hopes to begin a career in event planning after she graduates this coming May.
